About Dora Espinoza
Dora grew up in Lima, Peru, and moved to the USA after graduating high school to continue her education in New Jersey. Subsequently, she attended The University of Florida, under a Scholarship granted by International Press Association. Two years later, she relocated to New York City, where she immersed in the art world, working in various art galleries in SOHO. In 1989, Dora founded DEFA, Dora Espinoza Fine Art, focusing on exposing the art and culture of Peru in New York City. In 1992, she expanded her artistic endeavors by opening Tribes Gallery on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Tribes Gallery operated for 12 years, showcasing mostly New York emerging artists. In 2008, Dora's passion for art led her to explore the world of jewelry, discovering a deep connection to her origins through pre-Columbian jewelry. Fascinated by its simplicity and elegance, she created ORO DEL PERU, the Pre-Columbian Collection. ORO DEL PERU debuted was at the Woman's Club in Englewood, NJ, in 2015.
